NJ Senior Freeze
08/07/2026

Just a quick reminder for those of you who may qualify for New Jersey’s Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) program.
The Senior Freeze is designed to reimburse eligible seniors and certain disabled homeowners for increases in property taxes on their principal residence. For the 2025 application, the deadline to apply is November 2, 2026. The application is now part of New Jersey’s combined property-tax-relief application, which also covers ANCHOR and Stay NJ.
Eligibility depends on several factors, including age or disability, how long you've owned and lived in your home, and your income. For 2025, eligible applicants generally must have been 65 or older as of December 31, 2025, or receiving qualifying Social Security or Railroad Retirement disability benefits. There are also income limits, so it's worth checking the state's requirements even if you're not sure you qualify.
If this might apply to you, don't put it off until November. You can find the official information and application through the New Jersey Division of Taxation's Senior Freeze page.
And if this doesn't apply to you, please pass this along to a friend, neighbor, or family member who might benefit. Sometimes a simple reminder can make a real difference. If you don't live in NJ, check your state's Division of Taxation.
