A Message From The Chamber Office...

The Suburban Essex Chamber of Chamber of Commerce offer a full array of services to our member businesses.  From grand openings, ribbon cutting and ground breaking ceremonites, to business networking events, speaker programs, advertising opportunities through program sponsorships and chamber publicity in the new and exciting Essex County inBiz Magazine.  Our mission is to support and help you grow your business.  Please come out and join us at our programs.  It is very important for the chamber to get acquainted with you and find out what we can to do to assist our members.  All ideas are welcomed.  I can be reached at 973-748-2000.  Our community is what the chamber is all about.

The services and programs of the Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce are organized and designed to benefit our members, as well as to promote and nurture business in the towns of Bloomfield, Belleville and Glen Ridge. Our goal is to help our member businesses grow! The benefits of Chamber membership are listed below.  In addition, other services benefit the community at large and through the support of the Chamber, maintain high property and business values in the community.

A free listing in our annual Spotlight Directory, which is distributed to over 35,000 homes, businesses, municipalities, public libraries, etc. in Bloomfield, Belleville and Glen Ridge and surrounding area

Chamber publicity in the Essex County inBiz Magazine
    
You will be invited to chamber networking business card exchanges and speaker programs (see calendar of events on our web site)
    
A free listing on our chamber website, with both an alphabetical and classified heading, as well as a direct hyperlink to your business web site if you have one, or the opportunity to have web presence built for you at a discount
    
Your business cards can be included in the chamber business card organizer program, given to all new members.  (please supply the office with 100 -150  of your business cards)
    
Business verifications and/or referrals to consumers from the chamber office

Registration

The Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce membership dues are as follows:
$175 per year (under 50 employees), $300 per year (over 50 employees), $400 per year (banks and/or hospitals), $175 per year for additional bank branches within a town, $50 per year civic orgainizations, $25 per year patrons. 

New membership administration fee is $25 (one time only)

Members receive a plaque, membership business card holder and decal for display. If you wish to become a member, please send a check -- payable to the Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce – enclosing a paragraph, brochure or pamphlet describing your business to our office: Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce, 256 Broad Street, Room 2F, Bloomfield, NJ 07003. Directory and Website
Members automatically receive both a classified and an alphabetical listing in our Chamber Spotlight Directory.  This directory is mailed every year to residents and businesses in the community.  In addition, directories are mailed to individuals and businesses who place inquiries at the office.  Our Website lists all our members; provide a hyperlink to their email and Web site.

Member-to-Member Discount
Members of the Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce receive Member-to-Member Discount.  Participating members have agreed to offer special discounts to other Chamber members.  This discount is available only to members of our Chamber.  We encourage you to participate in this program.  There is no charge to you:  Simply advise the Chamber office that you will offer a special discount to your fellow members. We will advertise your business as a participating member in our newsletter, our directory, and in other publications as they appear.Our Member-to-Member Discount Program encourages mutual support among our members and nurtures growth of businesses in the Chamber.  When you use your membership card at participating business, it saves you money -- often the cost of your own membership! We invite you, as a member, to participate by offering discounts when you do business with other members.

Board of Directors
After maintaining membership for one year, you may submit your name to the Board to serve for a three-year term as a Board member.  You may then consider becoming an officer.  You may display your Chamber membership on you business stationery and business cards.

Luncheons/Breakfasts
We hold general membership luncheons with speaker programs, both to meet as a group and to keep each other up to date on pertinent issues.  If you would like to address our membership as a speaker, please let us know.  New speakers are always welcome!

Business After Hours
We sponsor, along with other Chambers, Business After Hours Programs, which are designed to meet and interface with other business – and with the public – in a relaxed, congenial atmosphere.

Annual Banquet
Our annual gala event includes an installation ceremony for Officers and Trustees.  In addition, we acknowledge accomplishments and anniversaries of member businesses and individuals, with awards.  The program includes dancing, dining, and prizes.

Retail
The Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce offers a retail division designed to assist Bloomfield, Belleville and Glen Ridge merchants.  The Retail Division arranges sidewalk sales, holiday programs, and other events.

Town Council Liaisons
The Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce interfaces with our government officials and administrative offices.

Scholarships
The Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce participates in the Bloomfield, Belleville and Glen Ridge High School Scholarship Awards programs.

Certificates and Documentation

The Chamber office documents solicitation letters and certificates of origin.  We also verify the legitimacy of your business when we receive inquiries at our office.
The Suburban Essex Chamber of Commerce...  

• Is a voluntary association of business and professional people, working together to nurture and enhance the growth and prosperity of the business community

• Is financed entirely by dues 

• Is independent of all other organizations and groups   
  

• Is a member of the State of New Jersey and United States Chambers of Commerce, which watch legislation affecting each member, whether positively or adversely  

• Is not supported by tax dollars   
  

• Is not affiliated with city government 

• Is not answerable to any other organization

• Serves as the public relations department of our membership.
